One year following the death of elder statesman and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, his last Will and Testament has been made public and read to the family.

Iwuanyanwu was married for over 40 years to his first wife, Lady Eudora Nnenna Ozinyereaku Iwuanyanwu, who passed away on August 28, 2011. In 2013, at age 72, he remarried Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem, then 26 years old. He died on July 25, 2024, aged 82. On June 16, 2025, the contents of his Will were revealed by Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN).

The Will outlines how the respected businessman and politician’s estate will be divided among his immediate family and selected beneficiaries. A notable provision grants Frances ownership of the iconic ‘Legacy House’ on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, with an explicit prohibition on selling the property.

In addition to the residence, Frances inherits Magil Furniture—a business formerly operated by Iwuanyanwu’s late first wife—and partial stakes in real estate holdings in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze, all in Imo State.

However, the Will states that if Frances remarries, she will lose all these inheritances.

The couple’s son is bequeathed the family’s residence in Abuja. Meanwhile, the London property is to be sold, with 60% of the proceeds earmarked for the education of Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son, 30% to his first son, Jide, and 10% to Ezinne, the current occupant, to assist with her relocation.

Furthermore, Iwuanyanwu directed that the ‘Glass House’ near the Owerri flyover be converted into a public trust, managed by an independent board to facilitate charitable and community projects.

Other significant assets located in Abuja, Imo, and various parts of Nigeria have been fairly distributed among his five children.
